Children's football
Training units for the sports field
The DFB also promotes football for children and young people. Football is a sport that is predominantly played outdoors and in which the coach is very important. For this reason, training on the sports field is also a priority. From the very beginning, the children are familiarized with the conditions in children's football which they also find in their games. Each sports field has a different terrain for children's football, to which the players and the coach must adjust. Although the ball behaves according to certain laws, the constantly changing environment always demands the player and coach in new ways.
Since the children must learn how to control the rolling, flying and jumping ball, the experience on a football field is much greater than it can be, for example, in a hall. This training location is therefore also the ideal place to prepare for the following competition and friendly matches.
In the following, we present the children's trainers with some training units according to DFB guidelines. The playful character is always in the focus of all units; the idea of practicing and training can only be felt indirectly. In the first part, the emphasis is on improving general mobility, handling the ball, ball control, rough forms of the types of shots and the creation of a rough room layout through games with a small number of participants. In the second half of the training sessions, the player continues to work on some basic techniques such as ball acceptance, dribbling and types of shots, improves the players' sense of space and develops their duel behavior through partner competitions.
We have divided the training sessions on the sports field into three aspects: Tuning in (15-20 minutes), emphasis (25-30 minutes), finishing (25-30 minutes). In all three areas - and that connects them - the playful element is always the focus. The idea of competition, which is often connected with the idea of play, also finds its way into the training units before the start.
Goal:Getting used to the ball, experience with the rolling, jumping and flying ball.
Tuning in and warming up for the training
At the beginning the coach asks: "Let's see what you can do with the ball". The children train with the ball, each on their own. Later, two players get together and play with the ball, completely according to their choice.
Main part / focus of the training
We'll start with relay games, first without, then with the ball. Each relay team consists of only four players, so that they move as much as possible. These are forward and reverse relay teams.
- We run without the ball.
- We carry the ball.
- We bounce the ball.
- We lead the ball by the foot.
- We dribble with the ball through a flag lineout.
- The ball is shot against the crowd. The player runs after it and dribbles it back.
End of the training
Finally, we play in formed four-man teams on goals with goalkeepers. After 5 minutes, the opposing team is changed until everyone has played against each other.
Goal: Getting used to the ball and improving general mobility in children's football

Each of the children trains with the ball themselves
- The juniors dribble with the ball.
- On command we stop the ball and dribble on.
- The juniors dribble in a circle or an eight-form.
- We dribble alternately with our right and left feet.
Main part / focus of the training in children's football
- The children hold the football ball with both hands at hip height, drop it and shoot it away.
- As above, the juniors now tap the ball on the ground and shoot it away.
- The juniors throw the ball up about 1 m and then play it up again with their thighs.
- The juniors throw the ball up and catch it above their heads.
- The juniors throw the ball up, kick it with their foreheads and catch it above their heads.
- Can someone already perform something special that the others are trying to do?
End of the training in children's football
The coach forms teams of three who play on one goal with goalkeeper. The teams change after about five minutes.

- The juniors dribble first with their strong, then with their weak foot.
- The juniors dribble, stop the ball and dribble on.
- The juniors guide the ball at the foot and run existing lines with it.
- We constantly change the direction with the ball on the foot.
- We constantly change the speed with the ball on the foot.
-
Main part / focus of children's football training
- The goal is only 1 m wide. We shoot the resting ball into the goal.
- We dribble towards the goal and shoot at the goal from about 8 - 10 m.
- Pairs form. One player stands in the goal, the other shoots at the goal. The change takes place as soon as the goalkeeper has held a ball..
- Each player stands in a goal. The distance between the goals is about 15 meters. Each player must score and block goals. At first with shots from about 10 m distance, then in dribbling and game.
End of the children's football training
In a tournament with three teams, everyone plays against everyone. Whoever has been defeated twice will be eliminated. The playing time is 7 minutes. In Bambini shops you can buy all the necessary utensils and sports equipment, from jerseys, football balls to drinking bottles.
